Here’s a classic and comforting Ground Beef Casserole recipe that’s easy to make and perfect for a family dinner. It’s hearty, cheesy, and packed with flavor!

Classic Ground Beef Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni, penne, or rotini work well)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: 1 cup frozen vegetables (peas, corn, or mixed veggies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the pasta: Boil the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add aromatics: To the skillet, add the diced onion and garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  5. Combine sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. If using frozen vegetables, add them here and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Mix pasta and sauce: In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta and the beef mixture. Stir until well coated.
  7. Layer the casserole: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve: Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

This casserole is versatile, so feel free to customize it with your favorite ingredients like mushrooms, bell peppers, or even a dash of hot sauce for some heat. Serve it with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal!
